Teaching & Learning
My approach to teaching and learning leadership is centered on building coherence across curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning so that strong teaching is not dependent on individual classrooms, but becomes part of a shared approach across the school.
Effective instructional leadership begins with clarity about what students should know and be able to do, how learning develops across grade levels, and which instructional practices have the greatest impact. I work collaboratively with teachers to strengthen curriculum progression, clarify essential learning, align assessment with intended outcomes, and ensure that classroom practice reflects both research and the needs of the students we serve.
Supporting teachers is central to this work. I believe professional learning is most effective when it is practical, sustained, and closely connected to classroom instruction. Through coaching, collaborative planning, observation, modeling, data inquiry, and shared professional learning, I aim to help teachers refine their practice while building collective expertise across the school.
I also place strong emphasis on using assessment evidence purposefully. Data should help educators identify patterns, understand student needs, evaluate the impact of instruction, and determine meaningful next steps. The goal is not to create more assessment, but to ensure that the evidence we collect leads to better instructional decisions and improved student learning.
Ultimately, I want students to experience a coherent, well-sequenced, and appropriately challenging education from one grade level to the next, while teachers are supported by clear expectations, strong resources, meaningful collaboration, and a shared understanding of effective practice..
